About the event

A full day outdoors for children, built around making things with their own hands and using them right away. No screens, no worksheets — just a day of building, exploring, and figuring things out in the open.

Children will build a ladder to reach a prize hanging in a tree, read a real terrain map and then sculpt that terrain in clay, make a working compass and use it to find their way, follow a secret scroll through a treasure hunt across the campus, and finish by building a catapult they get to take home. A bingo-style exploration of the EGBC grounds runs through the last stretch of the day, so the campus itself becomes the thing being studied.

The day

  • 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM — Tree Climbing: build your own ladder and claim the prize on the tree

  • 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM — Recess

  • 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM — Reading a terrain map · clay model of your own terrain · make your own compass and find directions

  • 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM — Lunch and games

  • 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM — Treasure Hunt, secret scroll style

  • 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM — BINGO exploration of the EGBC campus · make your own catapult, knock out the target, take it home
